Saint John's Registered Nurses for a Fair Contract

Nurses & Neighbors

RNs and community concerns naturally overlap - community members are our patients, and as employees we share many of the environmental health concerns with our hospital's neighbors. Unfortunately at Saint John's we have another thing in common - the hospital administration has been unresponsive to both of our voices.

Saint John's has been allowed to neglect construction mitigations1 and ignore a sewage system that spews noxious fumes twice a week and has repeatedly spilled raw sewage onto our city streets.2 Now the hospital wants to demolish an old building containing asbestos and lead3, and to pass an Amendment to the original agreement allowing them to renege on the parking provisions of the original plan.4 Is Saint John's a neighbor we can trust?

UPDATE!

Saint John's has been found in "constant violation" of sewage pretreatment standards by the City of Santa Monica, and, in a rare move, referred to the City Attorney due to it's long-term failure to correct the issue. Read the public citation.

Further, it has been revealed that the Santa Monica City Council has failed to annually review Saint John's Development Agreement - as required by law - for "years." Read about the issue.
