Our campaign has been supported by Santa Monica faith and elected leaders from the start because it reflects the value our city has always placed on community health, democracy, and problem solving through dialog.
When a pro-union RN was suspended without pay in retaliation for her union support, local clergy explained to management that these kind of tactics were not acceptable in our city, resulting in her reinstatement. When Saint John's management refused to address our patient care concerns local elected, labor and faith leaders united to call upon Saint John's to enter into an agreement for a fair process for RNs to decide for themselves whether CNA representation is best for themselves and their patients.
Unfortunately, Saint John's administration has otherwise tuned a deaf ear to the overwhelming community consensus that unilateral management decisions to emphasize the bottom line do not reflect the values of our community.
